Bordallo today announced that the Close Up Foundation will be conducting a three-day Youth Summit for local high school students from October 10 to 12 at the Guam Marriott hotel. Close Up is a Washington-based non-profit civic education organization that educates and inspires young people to become informed and active citizens and help students develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to engage in our democracy.

The Congresswoman today announced that the U.S. Department of Education awarded the Guam Department of Education $908,222 to support school improvements, technology and professional development. The three-year grant was awarded through the Territories and Freely Associated States Education Grant Program.

Yigo resident, James E. Pangelinan, and Barrigada resident, Vincent A.P. Reyes, have been selected to participate in the 2012 Congressional Internship Program. Vincent was selected to represent the University of Guam, and James was selected to represent the Guam Community College. This is the first year GCC has participated in the program.
