May 21, 2015
Press Release

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s nomination of Stephen C. Hedger to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the Department of Defense. Mr. Hedger is currently the Principal Deputy Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the DOD and formerly served as a Legislative Assistant in Congresswoman Bordallo’s Washington, D.C. office from 2005 to 2007. He was previously a Special Assistant to the President and Senate Legislative Affairs Liaison in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs. He has also served in the offices of Senator Claire McCaskill and Congressman Steve Israel.

“I congratulate Steve on his nomination to be the next Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the Department of Defense.” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “Steve is an exceptional candidate whose deep understanding of Capitol Hill will be a critical asset to promoting dialogue and communication between Members of Congress and the Pentagon. As my Military Legislative Assistant, Steve was instrumental to informing my work on behalf of our service members and his counsel served me well in my duties on the House Armed Services Committee. I look forward to working with him when he assumes his new position and I urge the Senate to act swiftly on his nomination.”
