Andrew Ermitano Appointed to U.S. Naval Academy

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that Andrew N.E. Ermitano has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  Andrew was nominated by Congresswoman Bordallo, and competed with nominees nationwide for admission into the Naval Academy.  The Naval Academy’s admission board selected Andrew based on his academic achievements, athletic abilities, extracurricular activities and community involvement. Andrew’s twin brother Anthony was also appointed to the United States Naval Academy.

Andrew is the son of Anthony and Nanette Ermitano of Tamuning. He will graduate from Father Duenas Memorial School in April 2013. He currently has a 4.0 grade point average, and is ranked first in his class, he was a member of the Father Duenas track and field, cross country, paddling, and NJROTC Physical Fitness Team. As Honor Guard Commander and Information Technology Officer of the Phoenix Company NJROTC he is responsible for the training of the program. He also serves as Projects Chairman in Father Duenas’ National Honor Society, he was the vice president of Junior Achievement, and he co-founded the Chess Club, and has been a member of NJROTC throughout his high school career. Andrew represented his school at the Island-wide Chemistry Titration Competition at the University of Guam in which his team won first place overall. Andrew has been consistently on the school’s honor list, earning Student of the Quarter.
