Bordallo Joins Colleagues in Supporting the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act
Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today issued the following statement regarding the recent introduction of H.R. 4271, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2012. The Congresswoman has signed on as a cosponsor of this bill, which was introduced by Congresswoman Gwen Moore of Wisconsin. If enacted, it would strengthen the ability of the federal government, states, law enforcement, and service providers to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
“All Americans are entitled to feel safe in their workplace, in their homes, and walking on the street,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “Yet too many women continue to live in fear. And that is why we must reauthorize and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act.
“The original passage of the Violence Against Women Act was a watershed moment and a bipartisan victory. I will continue to support this legislation to make further progress in protecting women and children on Guam, and across the country.”
