Bordallo Statement on International Women’s Day
Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today released the following statement regarding International Women’s Day.
“Today, as our island and nation celebrate International Women's Day, I pay tribute the women who came before me and the rich history of Guam’s matriarchal culture. It is an important day for our island, country and entire global community to recognize the invaluable contributions women make to our society. I am proud to join the international community in celebrating today and throughout the month of March as Women’s History Month. There has been great progress for the rights of women, but there is still so much to do.
“Today, I was honored to join Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, clad in red on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, to raise awareness of the work that remains for equal rights for women in the United States and around the world. Women are the foundation of our community, and we deserve equal rights, equal pay and equal treatment in every aspect of life. And I will continue to do my part in Congress to further these ideals for all women.”
