DOI Awards $409,123 to Guam Historic Resources Division
Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that the Department of the Interior awarded $409,123 in federal financial assistance to the Guam Historic Resources Division, also known as the State Historic Preservation Office. This Historic Preservation Grant was awarded through the National Historic Preservation Fund, which is administered by the National Park Service of the Department of the Interior.
Historic preservation grants are awarded annually to the states, territories, and the Freely Associated States, to assist their state historic preservation offices in accelerating and expanding preservation activities. These funds will help the Guam Historic Resources Division in implementing the mandates of the National Historic Preservation Act.
“The funds received today will help the Guam Historic Resources Division maintain and preserve our island’s historic properties,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “This grant will help to sustain and revitalize our local communities, and will help support the Division’s work in promoting and preserving Guam’s cultures and heritage for future generations. This grant demonstrates the federal government’s continued investment in local preservation efforts, and I look forward to the implementation of these funds on Guam.”
